OPPOSITE is a gripping story about the fine line between normality and hell in marriage. In his feature film debut, director Jan Bonny paints an intimate and unsettling portrait of a troubled relationship.
The ever-composed patrol officer Georg (Matthias Brandt) is respected by his colleagues and envied for his harmonious marriage to the attractive primary school teacher Anne (Victoria Trauttmansdorff). His younger partner Michael (Wotan Wilke Möhring), in particular, is unaware of the conflicts that have dominated the couple's life for years. But the happy facade gradually begins to crack, and the tensions spill over: Anne's desperate struggle for recognition, Georg's attempts to please everyone, the helplessness of their adult children – and the traces of physical violence that can barely be concealed anymore…
