Since May 9th, 13-year-old Sandra has been locked up in an escape-proof confinement. All contact with the people she trusts has been severed. The only exception: her parents are allowed monitored phone calls. No personal contact. She doesn't even get her belongings or clothes.
With us, Sandra had regular school attendance, a rail pass, her own kick scooter, could call and email at any time, and had classmates and friends. She could move about freely.
She has none of that now. But it's not the Aargau judiciary, which enforced this appalling confinement through a police kidnapping, that is being charged with child abduction, but my wife and I. Why are the Aargau judiciary, Chief Justice Marbet, and "guardian" Übelhart acting so inhumanely? We have only one explanation: to break the will of this strong, self-confident girl, so that what happened before won't be repeated. The attempt to deport Sandra to Brazil on May 10th failed due to the desperate physical resistance of the 13-year-old.
As a reminder: Sandra grew up in the canton of Aargau, is a Swiss citizen, and her only crime is that she wants to stay in Switzerland.
