Last Tuesday, June 11th, a panel discussion for professionals, organized by VeV, took place at the VeBo culinary workshop in Oensingen. Moderated by GeCoBi President Oliver Hunziker, the professionals on the panel discussed issues related to the implementation of shared custody, the prevention of alienation, and the difficulties faced by professionals.

The following people were on the podium:
Stefan Müller-Altermatt, National Councillor, The Centre Party, Solothurn;
Dominic Nellen, Family Law Attorney, Bern;
Monique Wahlen , Couple and GeCoBi Separation Counselor, Herzogenbuchsee;
Daniela Bucher, estranged mother of two children;
Brigitte Kissling, Professional Guardian, Board Member of the Solothurn Association of Professional Guardians

The key takeaways from the lively panel discussion were that implementing existing laws is very difficult and that their interpretation unfortunately remains highly inconsistent. This leads to legal uncertainty for affected families, as the outcome of a case often depends on where it takes place.
All participants repeatedly referred to the promising pilot projects in Bern, Basel, and elsewhere.

The subsequent discussion with the audience was equally engaged; the voices of the affected parents were clearly audible, but in a constructive manner.

The VeV will continue to be involved in these issues and will also hold further events GeCoBi campaign "Enough Tears"
