On December 10, 2007, International Human Rights Day, the Swiss Association for Shared Parenthood was launched as a network of more than a dozen organizations. This is announced in a corresponding media release from the organization . www.gecobi.ch
We at VeV are very proud to have contributed to making this foundation possible. For around two years we have been bringing the various organizations from all over Switzerland together at regular meetings and preparing and implementing this development together with them.
We are particularly pleased that one of our most active members, Oliver Hunziker, the designated president of VeV Switzerland, sits on the executive committee of the new organization.
GeCoBi is made up of the first letters of the words Shared Parenthood in the three national languages German, French and Italian. Under this name, the association has now become a network with an appointed executive committee.
GeCoBi puts the concerns of children first. While the VeV and many other member organizations traditionally come from the fathers' movement, GeCoBi wants to break new ground and place greater emphasis on the approach of shared parental responsibility called for in the recently presented draft law.
As a national organization, GeCoBi is intended to coordinate the efforts of the member organizations and represent them at the national level.
