News from VeV Switzerland – A quiet year – yet important
work behind the scenes, setting the course for the future – and a special anniversary.
Some years appear quiet on the surface – yet are crucial for the future. For VeV Switzerland, 2025 was precisely such a year: characterized by intensive work behind the scenes, important decisions, and the further development of our services. At the same time, we are already looking ahead to new projects and a special anniversary.
A year of preparation and clarification
: A comprehensive assessment of the current situation was already carried out at the reunion in autumn 2024. This revealed that the association faces several important tasks: personnel changes, the expiration of the existing agreement with the Federal Social Insurance Office (BSV), and the review and further development of existing services.
These issues accompanied the association's work throughout the year 2025 and required time, commitment and careful coordination.
Important decision from Bern:
A key focus of the work was the preparation of new applications to the Federal Social Insurance Office. A small working group dedicated itself to this demanding task over several months. The applications were submitted on time.
Shortly before the end of the year, the decision was reached: the applications were approved. This secures the continuation of the work of VeV Switzerland and creates an important foundation for the coming years.
Internal changes
and personnel issues also occupied the club intensely. Various scenarios were discussed and carefully examined. Such processes rarely proceed without tension, especially when a great deal of commitment and personal conviction are involved.
The reunion in autumn 2025 finally provided clarity, which gave the club more orientation and peace.
Counseling as a central task:
Direct support for affected parents remains the core of VeV Switzerland's work. This counseling is based on three central pillars:
- the monthly consultation meetings in various regions of German-speaking Switzerland
- The advice hotline is available from Monday to Saturday
- the knowledge platform on the website, which is constantly being expanded
Today, two to three consultation meetings take place practically every week. This ensures that those affected can usually find a point of contact quickly, even if a certain amount of travel is necessary.
Participation numbers vary depending on the location. While some meetings have consistently high attendance, others experience greater fluctuations. One meeting was recently closed due to lack of demand in order to allocate resources more effectively.
Overall, around 400 consultations were recorded at the drop-in centers throughout the year, and similar figures were reported for the hotline. At the same time, it can be assumed that the need remains significantly greater. Therefore, raising awareness of the available services remains a key priority.
Exchange with experts
In addition to providing advice, VeV Switzerland maintains regular exchange with experts and institutions.
In the autumn, I had the opportunity to give a presentation to professional guardians in the Winterthur region and to conduct a workshop at the IGQK conference. Furthermore, I maintain numerous contacts with experts from various fields, which fosters mutual exchange and understanding.
Further development of services:
VeV Switzerland is working to further develop its services and adapt them to future needs.
In autumn 2025, a working group began its work and developed new approaches for existing services. These are currently in the testing phase. Implementation is planned for the first half of 2026. We are eager to hear about the results and look forward to reporting on them next year.
A Significant Anniversary:
The year 2026 is a special year for VeV Switzerland. Twenty years ago, in 2006, the former associations VeV AG, VeV ZH, VeV LU, and VeV BE/SO merged to form the current VeV Switzerland. At the members' meeting in the Waage Restaurant in Windisch, the delegates of all associations approved the merger, thus laying the foundation for today's organization.
This anniversary is an occasion to look back on our shared journey – and at the same time to look ahead with confidence.
