OPPOSITE is a gripping story about the fine line between normality and hell in marriage.
In his feature film debut, director Jan Bonny paints the tension-filled portrait of a disastrous relationship in intimate and oppressive images. The always level-headed patrolman Georg (Matthias Brandt) is valued by his colleagues and envied for his harmonious marriage to the attractive primary school teacher Anne (Victoria Trauttmansdorff). His younger partner Michael (Wotan Wilke Möhring) in particular has no idea of the conflicts that have determined the couple's life for years. But the happy façade gradually begins to crack, and the tensions seep out: Anne's desperate fight for recognition, George's efforts to please everyone, the helplessness of the adult children - and the traces of physical violence that can hardly be hidden...
