Yesterday the Federal Council decided that fathers and their children must continue to wait for equal rights!
Instead of finally bringing the long overdue proposal for a new regulation of shared parental custody into parliament, the Federal Council in its new composition decided to postpone this proposal and instead link it to conditions regarding maintenance. In summary, fathers should pay if they want equal rights.
This decision is scandalous and extremely worrying. It shows once again that the well-being of the child in this country is synonymous with the financial well-being of the mother. Whether a child has a father or not, and whether he or she is allowed to have a relationship with this father or not, is obviously irrelevant for the legislature; the main thing is that the mother and the child get enough money from somewhere to live on. If necessary, also in such a way that the child's father is left with less than his subsistence level. This is exactly what the current demand is aimed at: it should be possible to fall below the father's minimum subsistence level in the event of a deficiency.
