Good news for affected parents and children.

The National Council has a motion by Philippe Nantermod.
Should the Council of States follow suit, more effective measures would be possible in the future if visitation rights are denied.

Unfortunately, a breakdown in contact between parents and their children occurs far too often after a separation or divorce. This is usually instigated by one parent, either through deliberate neglect of contact by the non-custodial parent or through the targeted denial and sabotage of visitation rights by the custodial parent. In both cases, the child suffers most from the loss of contact with the other parent. Long-term consequences are not uncommon.
Such developments could often be prevented by consistent intervention at an early stage. However, effective legal remedies are currently lacking, which is why authorities often have to watch helplessly as the estrangement unfolds.

The issue of alienation has long been taboo and denied.
All the better that things are finally starting to move forward.
